These are just some of the issues that's facing most americans and sadly to say, is especially true of our vets.  In fact, these are the same questions that I had to face back when I first retired.  As I look back now, I had some advantages then, one was the fact that I had a retirement check that came like clock work from Uncle Sam. 

But the other advantages that I had ... and you also have now, is your work ethic and your many and varied experiences.  Experiences, that you may not even be aware that you have.  One of the most important things you have is that you have always been taught this:   You Must Have A Back-Up Plan!  And this, Now, More Than Ever, Holds True!

After retiring from the military I spent several years trying to find something close to that of being a soldier.  There was nothing!  Finally, in 2001 I became a police officer and joined the California Youth Authority, as a Correctional Counselor, ... A Cop! 

I had hoped that I could regain some of the feelings of companionship that I had always known and experienced as a soldier, ... (even when working with soldiers from other countries), ... but I never did.  Yes, there were a few people that I really learned to appreciate!  But the numbers were ... FEW!  In all honestly, it was still not like being around and working with soldiers!  So I kept looking!  I knew that I needed a Back-Up-Plan and I never lost sight of my need for it. 

Dear Active, Retired, X-Military, Veterans And Friends:

My name is Carlton L. Dowdy, US Army, (Ret.).  My friends call me, "the Colonel"!   Having been retired from the U. S. Military for more than a few years I have finally come to the realization that there is no organization like the US Military Services, and no "J-O-B" like being a soldier ... and no one like ...

Another problem that I quickly became aware of was that I didn't know quite how to apply my military skills to the civilian world. GI's, of all services, seldom need to be told anything more than once and they are off to the races.  Not the case for many in the civilian world!  

And for some strange reason the things that seemed to be "Big Problems", for civilian bosses just didn't seem to be much of a problem for us ... but of course we are not allowed to make suggestions, otherwise, someone would think that we're gunning for their "J-O-B"! 

My goal has always been to start my own business, hire vets, and regain some of the great feelings that I had always felt as a soldier much as I did during my 39 plus months as a Company Commander between 1976 and 1979, in Seoul South Korea! Those were truly the best years ...

Thank God I never gave up, kept my goal in the forefront of my mind, and never stopped looking .... but WE, (you and I never give up anyway), that's just not who we are!
 
However, having only enough money to survive, starting a business, seemed out of the question for me ... but I had to continue trying.  After years of failed attempts at starting the traditional businesses I began thinking outside the box.   It was during this time that I came across the word and concept of "RESIDUAL INCOME".   

Finally, a few years ago, I found a way to recreate that feeling that I had missed so dearly and for so long, ... and a way to apply many of my military skills ... all while helping to build wealth for myself and my team members and their families.  It was what I had always been looking for, the business opportunity of a lifetime and one that allowed me to work with Vets.

How many times have you heard the old adage, "all for one and ... one for all"!  Well, that's the perfect phrase to use in describing our business.  Can I prove what I am saying to you!  Yes I can!  

Like an old Colonel once told me, "Dowdy, it's OK to have butterflies in your stomach as long as you can get them to fly in formation."  To be honest with you, I believe that once you understand how our business works, I think that you will find, as I did, that it's the most perfect business for me to be in .... and people like me, ... YOU!

I began to love the business that I was in but continued to have that reoccurring urge to work with veterans.  In order for me to satisfy that urge I knew that I had to find someone who was not only far more skilled in this business than I but also someone who would love to work with veterans as much as I.  Be careful of what you wish for.... 

Not long ago I found the perfect person that I was looking for.  I knew that he would not only enjoy working with veterans as much as I did, but to my surprize, what I also learned was that he is considered to be, "The Chairman of The Joints Chief", within our industry and get this ... he is also a veteran.
